CHIMWEMWE AT BANDAWE GIRLS SECONDARY SCHOOL FOR TEACHING PRACTICES

My name is Chimwemwe, and I am a student at the University of Livingstonia, where I am pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Humanities). I am currently undertaking my teaching practice at Bandawe Girls Secondary School in Northern Malawi. So far, my teaching experience has been both rewarding and enjoyable. I have had the opportunity to interact with students and teachers from diverse cultural backgrounds across Malawi, which has helped me grow and develop my skills as a teacher of history and social studies.

Bandawe Girls Secondary School id a school that upholds clear rules and regulations and above all practices Inclusive Education and this allowed me to get exposed to students with different learning abilities, speed, backgrounds including those with special educational needs. As a student teacher I also learnt classroom management, diverse teaching methods, effective learner assessment, record keeping and professional behavior. My teaching practice experience has enabled me to build strong and meaningful relationships with my students.

The school also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including sports, games, student elections, and different clubs. I actively participate in these activities in my role as a teacher. In addition, we hold general assemblies and class assemblies as part of our planned programs. During one of these assemblies, I was given the opportunity to deliver a motivational speech to the students, which was a great honor, as I strive to be a positive role model to them.

As part of our teaching practice, supervisors from the university assess our performance. My first supervision took place on January 25th, and it was successful, as I received good grades. The second supervision was conducted on February 25th, and I also performed well. Furthermore, I regularly assign tasks and assessments to students to evaluate their understanding and monitor their academic progress.

Thank you very much for supporting my education. I deeply appreciate not only your support for my studies but also the love and care you continually show me. May the Lord richly bless you. I am still continuing with my teaching practice and look forward to graduating in 2026.
